Aarush Nand, a talented child artist with versatile skills, needs no introduction. At a very young age, he has achieved international recognition through his work. He has his own dubbing and sound studio at his home. Aarush, a 12-year-old student from Good Shepherd High School in Oshiwara, Mumbai, has acted in numerous films in English, Sinhalese, Tamil, Hindi, and Marathi, including "Funny Boy," "Parmanu," and "Tanhaji."

He has worked on 150 ad films and has also lent his voice for dubbing in over 70 films, including Hollywood movie "The Lion King," as well as web series and advertisement films. Recently, Aarush completed shooting for the web series "Indian Police Force," directed by Rohit Shetty. Presented here are excerpts from the conversation with Aarush Nand.

Question: How did your journey as a voice-over artist and actor begin?

Answer: The truth is, I started acting at the age of five and began voice-over and dubbing work at the age of nine. Acting was destined for me. When I was around three years old, we met a casting manager at a shopping mall who suggested that my mom should get me into acting. He said, "This child has a good face. He is beautiful. He can become a great artist when he grows up." However, my mother declined because she didn't want anything to hinder my education. She wanted to provide me with a good education. But destiny had written my path to becoming an actor and a voice-over artist.

Due to this reason, two years later, when I was five years old, I met that manager again. He once again proposed to my mother to let me pursue acting. My mother was in a dilemma. She clearly told him that she didn't want it to affect my studies. Then he explained to my mother how working wouldn't hamper my education. He talked about maintaining a proper time table. My mother understood his point and agreed. After that, I did my first ad film. I enjoyed working on it.

Question: So, where did you start?

Answer: I first worked in an ad film. I had to sit on a scooter and act like I was sleeping on it. After that, I have done around 150 advertisement films, including "Taj" and "Mercedes." When my ad films started airing on TV, my schoolmates started praising me at school. Listening to their compliments made me feel good. It was then that I started developing a different kind of interest in acting. During the shoots of ad films, I used to meet new people, new directors, and new cameramen every time, and I used to talk to them.

Question: The characters speak dialogue in English on the screen, and you have to speak the dialogue given to you in Hindi. How do you match your spoken dialogue with the character's lips?

Answer: Well, we do our best. But for the more challenging parts, they send us videos in advance with the dialogue already dubbed in Hindi. So, we sit in our studio, which is set up at home, and practice matching the dialogue with the character's lips while watching the video.

Question: Out of the characters you have voiced so far, which character was the most liked?

Answer: I was most liked in the character of 'Lion King'. Because of this film, I gained a lot of followers on my Instagram account. I also received the Best Voice Over Artist award.

Question: After gaining recognition for dubbing films, where did you start acting in feature films?

Answer: I already mentioned that I gained popularity while dubbing. I was enjoying it as well. Meanwhile, my friends in school used to say, "When will you start acting in films? Your voice is good, and your face is also nice. Your height is good too." So, I talked to my mother about it. My mother contacted some coordinators and informed them that Arush would like to act in films. That's when I got the opportunity to play a character in the film 'Parmanu', the son of John Abraham's character. I went to Dehradun to shoot for it. It was a lot of fun. In dubbing films, we would finish shooting within two days. But for feature films, you have to dedicate a lot of time. Each scene is filmed with great detail. In the film, I got the chance to work with the experienced actor John Abraham, from whom I learned a lot.

Question: When your first film 'Parmanu' was released in theaters, what did your friends say?

Answer: I became a star for my friends. Everyone was asking for my autograph. I gave autographs as well. But I told my school friends that I am not a star. I am just an ordinary kid like them.

Question: What do you want to become in the future?

Answer: I want to become an actor, dubbing artist, voice-over artist, sound engineer, and also a businessman. I want to open my own sound studio. I am learning a lot about sound engineering. I have knowledge of software related to sound. I have gained knowledge about different types of microphones. I have also learned voice modulation, like the character Tatyaa Shahane in Marathi, who is a doll. I can speak like him too. I have done dubbing for a girl's voice when I was nine years old, but now it's not possible because my voice has changed.

Question: As an actor, are you doing something new?

Answer: Currently, I am quite busy with dubbing and voice-over work. It doesn't take much time for this work, and I enjoy it as well. Apart from that, I have worked in a web series called 'Indian Police Force' directed by Rohit Shetty, where I played the role of a villain in his childhood.
